Another one of dad's Good vintage hats. This early 1950s Stetson TWENTYFIVE Beaver is great! No stains on the felt. Leather sweatband stitching to the hat is perfect but my grandson stretched this hat many years ago and you can see the results of that! Dads HATMAN did a leather patch in the joint which still remains totally secure!

There are some minor chips also that resulted in the stretching. The hat itself, its still in excellent condition and weve priced it accordingly. This hat is worthy of a a rebuild or to wear as is. NOTE: the box was for display only. I love that box too!

Dads shaped the hat again since its been so many years since its been touched he wanted to freshen it up with a good horsehair cleaning and shaping. That coat trolley string is perfect too! Now that TWENTYFIVE beaver is excellent! Its thick and very soft. Back in that time a 25 Beaver was a like a beaver 100x material today.

Now for that size tag. Weve never seen one like it before and could sure use some help with it.

Its very similar to what Stetson uses but not something weve ever seen? One possible idea from dads hatter was this was a tag at the end of the tag wheel that the hat maker could tell it was ending the reel? If anyone has more information please write us. We measure each hat 3 times to verify the size, whether tagged or not. This was tagged a size 6-7/8 and actually measure to a 6-7/8 even after the stretch attempt.

It measures 21-5/8 inches which is a 6-7/8. Since there was NO hat size standardization until 1970 when a group of the largest manufacturers got together and finally agreed on the sizing chart. That size chart is still used today.

This was found in dads hoard of hats. Please take a look at some of dads hats listed. Dating back to the 1890s, the very rare Stetson 1930s Nutria through many 1950s Stetsons, Resistol, Borsalino and many others. Size 6-7/8 or 55 or 21-5/8 inches.
