Vintage Excellent 1970s Stetson 3X Beaver BIG Tom Mix-Gus Black Sz 7-1/8 & Box

  

Here's an EXCELLENT 1970s Stetson BIG GUS or Tom Mix cowboy hat, Black, size 7-1/8, 3X Beaver. This is the OLDER vintage 3X Beaver!

The hat is over 16 inches long and The wide 4.1 inch brim and that TALL 7 inch Gus crown makes this hat really stand out! After taking the pictures my grandson did find the size tag folded under the leather sweatband. It ended up falling out but he has glued it back, see last pictures. This is a very special Stetson hat!

This has a beautiful bound brim edge (see pictures) that matches the grosgrain ribbon. It's a real looker!

We think it's one of those rare special hats that folks will turn heads for! You just don't find these out there anymore! Especially in this outstanding condition!

The picture of the whole underside of hat is the best match to the actual brown color. Stetson called this color "Chocolate Brown".

It is easy to identify this as an early 1970s Stetson by the liner and the XXX stamped onto the leather sweatband. These older 3X Beaver hats are so easy to with! This is very soft and semi-pliable and so very easily steamed and shaped. This is NOT an anything like the newer, EXTREMELY stiff (HATCO) Resistol or Stetson or other manufacturers hat!

Steam shaping this is easy to do if you'd ever wanted to change it? It's just beautiful the way it sits now. Once dad and grandson steamed this into an Open Crown they both agreed that because of the brim shape this would look great as a Gus or Tom Mix cowboy hat. So that shape was steamed into the hat. NOTE: the hat box is NOT in great condition, no hat holding insert set, taped up too, so we left this an option if you just want an old Stetson hat box?

It's a BIG a hat box. If you have any questions please write us. There is a hat size tag and this measures to a perfect 7-1/8 at 22-3/8 inches. We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify the size, whether tagged or not. Size 7-1/8 or 22-3/8 inches or 57.

Width 14.8 inches, not flattened out, widest part. Height 7 inches at the tallest point and the front is 4 inches.

Wide Brim width 4.1 inches. 8 inches, 2 Tone- Light Brown with Black in the center.
