Vintage Excellent 1970 Resistol 3X Beaver Black BIG-Tom Mix-Gus Cowboy Hat 7-3/8

  
Here's an Excellent vintage 1970s Resistol, BIG Black GUS- Tom Mix cowboy hat, size 3X Beaver. This is the OLD vintage 3X Beaver. Nothing like you find in todays or yesterdays hats! This has a very tall crown! In the Gus Shape, it's 7.3 inches tall. It could be reshaped into an Open Crown again, just write to dad and ask him to do that. The height then will be over 7.3 inches and that 4 inch wide brim! Just an outstanding hat that folks will be certain to notice!

The Original Metal Resistol pin and the feather set are all original. The feather set is still in good condition too. So when this was being shaped after the original Open Crown was steamed in, we all believed this would look perfect as a BIG Tom Mix. So that is the shape we steamed into it. We were just about to steam the sides of the hat with the indents but one of our buyers wanted it without the side dents.

If you look though our other Tom Mix /Gus hats you can see when the side dents will look like. If you'd like side dents steamed into the shape you must write to us. This is a perfect 7-3/8 at 23-1/8 inches.

It's also states Long Oval but will fit a regular oval too. These older hats will easily conform to any head shape. It's just so soft that you won't even notice the long oval. It will conform to your head shape and after wearing it, it will just naturally conform and you'll never notice it.

We will add the length and width of the head hole later in the description, in DETAILS. If this was worn it was very rarely. We hid NOTHING in the pictures!

You can see the leather sweatband appears unworn but this has been sitting on display shelf for so many years. The picture of the whole underside is the best representation of the actual color - Black. It is easy to identify this as a 1970s by the liner and the size tag. This was actually manufactured by Resistol Hats! This is NOT a a HATCO product, very big difference. These older 3X Beaver hats are so easy to with! This is very soft and semi-pliable and so very easily steamed and shaped. This is NOT an anything like the newer, EXTREMELY stiff Resistol or Stetson or other manufacturers hat! Steam shaping this is easy to do if you'd ever wanted to change it? It's just beautiful the way it sits now. Once dad and grandson steamed this into an Open Crown they both agreed that because of the brim shape this would look great as a Gus or Tom Mix cowboy hat. So that shape was steamed into the hat. If you'd like an Open Crown please write and ask us to steam it that way.

We just think this is the best looking shape for this hat. NOTE: because of that TALL crown the hat no longer fits inside the hat box, so NO hat box.

At over 16 inches long and 7.3 inches tall it is a BIG hat! If you have any questions please write us. The was a hat tag states 7-3/8 and this measures to a perfect 7-3/8 at 23-1/8 inches.

We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify the size, whether tagged or not. Size 7-3/8 or 23-1/8 inches or 59. Inside head hole measurements, best measurements as possible. Length 8 inches, side to side 6.75 inches.

Width 14.7 inches, widest part, not flattened out. Height 7.3+ inches at the tallest point and the front is 3.3 inches. Wide Brim width 4 inches. Original Blue Feather set, ok good condition, see pictures.
