That wide bound edge is really stands! The WIDE bound brim edge is an exact duplicate of the Stetson wide bound brim edge of the Vintage Stetson Whippet fedora.
You can see that this is a 1960s because there is plastic overlay on the liner and the Wormser logo. We have a collector that has told us the he believes that he believes that Beaver Hats, the company that bought LIONS HATS a may have actually manufactured this hat. He has sent us pictures from the sale of Beaver Hats that included a "WORMSER" stamp, that is the same as what is stamped onto the leather sweatband on this hat.
We don't want to say for certain this is accurate but he is quite the hat collector! The color is Dark Forrest Green. The picture of the whole underside is the best representation of the actual color. We initially thought this was Dark Gray until we took it outside and started taking pictures. Also we could then see the top has NO moth bites or chews but the underside does have a few surface moth chews.
We hid nothing and pictured those in the end of the picture gallery. Though NEVER seen we know you should know. This needed little shaping and cleaning when it was removed from dad's hat hoard. This was cleaned and shaped by my grandson and dad!
This looks great with a perfect dip in the front! NOTE: that WORMSER oval box is NOT included in this sale, it's out of dad's personal collection. He just wanted it in the picture. The beaver is very very soft and pliable, feels a bit stiffer (still pliable) than their 1950s models but still a great beaver hat!
This can easily steamed into any shape or style you desire. When you grab the pinched crown to put the hat on it will dent for a moment and return to the original shape. That wide bound edge is really OUTSTANDING! This is a hat folks will notice!
Not many folks will have this great fedora! It's been gently worn a handful of times by him. If you have any questions please write. There is a size tag that states "7" and we actually measure each hat 3 times to verify its true size. This is a size 7+ at 22-1/8 inches, a perfect 7 measures 22 inches and a 7-1/8 is 22-3/8 inches. We know there was no hat sizing standardization until 1970 with the Tilley hat sizing chart, still in use today. This could easily be stretched to a 7-1/8 though, that's 22-3/8 inches. Dad says that the maximum stretch though.
Size 7+ or 22-1/8 + inches or 56.2. Height 5.25 inches at the tallest point. Matching Grosgrain ribbon 2 inches. Brim 2.65 inches, including bound edge.If you'd like a coat trolley string added to this hat? If you look through the listings you can see these. Dad has quite a few of older 1960s dead stock ones he acquired from an old hat shop that went out of business.
These are still all very elastic and can be sewn on by any decent tailor or just added as a decoration. We suggest the black one to match the grosgrain ribbon.
