We will send you pictures after it done. As you can see the leather sweatband is still in excellent condition, there is extremely minor wear to the top edge (hat reed) and the sewn joint is perfect! You can see that this is a very late 1940s Stetson because there is a very very thin "Onion Skin" on the liner and the liner design and color. It has NO breaks or tears!
The liner cover is not the thicker heavier ones used post 1951. As we are touching the actual liner Dad and I both think it feels more like silk and not satin. We placed this Stetson next to a 1950s Stetson and touched both liners and they do feel different. This feels much more like silk than satin. Does anyone know if Stetson was using silks liner at that time?
We strongly believe we are correct but we could be wrong? We don't think we are but just in case we are please don't hold that against us. And no return if it is satin. We always try and do our very best, giving details on each hat that is listed. So if you want to see some of Dads great hats please look through the listings, some hats actually belong to my son and grandson also.
This is what Stetson now calls this color Chocolate Brown color and the picture looking at the whole underside is the best representation of the color. Not sure why we can't get the color to always come out consistently? Anybody out there has any suggestions?
If you want a hat box Dad has a few late 1950s to early 1960s empty hat boxes still available. We saw a Champ hat box that still looks to be in good condition, with hat holding insert set. We will add pictures after my grandson gets it down. This Beaver Twenty is extremely soft, thick and pliable and can easily steamed into any shape or style you desire. If you have a preference, like a Center Dent only, you may write to us and dad will be happy to steam shape it for you.
Just a OUTSTANDING classic fedora. So this was on one of Dad's hat stretchers for only a few days and it measured to a perfect size 7-1/8 when it was removed. Now that we are listing it and measured it again it now measures to a fraction over a perfect size 7.
It was not left on the stretcher long enough to keep the stretch in the leather sweatband's memory. Dad already has other hats on his stretchers so he said to leave it as is and if someone wants to stretch it to a size 7-1/8, he is leaving that up to the new owner. It just takes time and patience! It can take from a few days to weeks (maybe even longer) to get the stretch to remain in the leather sweatband's memory.
The size is a fraction over a perfect size 7 by about an 1/8 of an inch. Look at the pictures towards the end so you can see these measurements. A perfect 7 is 22 inches and a perfect 7-1/8 is 22-3/8 inches. This is nearly 1/8 of an inch larger than a perfect size 7.
It was hard to get the exact number any closer than that, so please take this into consideration. We do our very very best when we measure each hat we list. We actually measure each hat 3 times using different methods and we use the Tilly hat sizing chart to determine the size from those measurements.
The Tilley hat sizing chart is still in use today. If you have any questions please write. Size 7+ or 22-1/8 inches or 56.3.
Height 5 inches at the tallest point. Matching Grosgrain ribbon 2 inches. The original feather set is in good condition. Coat Trolley string, still fully functional. He has collected for 60 something years now and it is time to sell them. Please see our listings and we keep adding hats each week. See pictures for more details and read description.
Please write if you need anything. If there are any reccomendations to help with our listings please write us. Please see our 100% Ratings and very excellent feedback. Dad has collected hats for a lifetime and there are 100s of them, on shelves, stacked in closets and spare bedrooms. We are slowly listing these special hats weekly. The shipper sent us a picture of the box sitting at the front door and it was NOT CRUSHED?We also discovered that because we were NOT in possession of the box it was impossible for us to file the claim. There are always some Bad Apples around who make everyone's life impossible! It not fair to the rest of the GOOD FOLKS but it's a fact of life these days! If you have any questions please write to us.
Thank you for your understanding.
