CURRENTLY UNABLE TO LOCATE THIS HAT! We know it states "pre-owned" but this was only worn a handful of times and then left on dad's hat display shelf for years. This was not one of dad's hat but belonged to my son. This was steamed into that "Open Crown" so it can easily be shaped. Since many folks write to ask us about the amount of work that goes into each hat that is listed we have a few hats that are shaped into an "Open Crown" listed with this shaping option.

Dad and my grandson work on each hat that is listed! Most hats are steamed into an open crown and then shaped either by hand or (grandson) used old wooden hat blocks to shape each hat.

Beside cleaning and stretching (on some hats), each hat has a lot of time and heart put into it to make it the best hat possible! This open crown is TALL at 6 inches and the brim width is 3.6 inches.

These older ones can easily be streamed and shaped into nearly any style you'd like! Since this is from a time when the hat were a bit stiffer than most of dads 1950s cowboy beaver hats, we will call it semi-pliable. All in all it's a great hat! This could easily be shaped to a GUS - Tom Mix or a Punchy (reverse Tom Mix) or a Cattleman or even a fedora but you'll need to write to us and tell us how you wanted it shaped. Also the brim is relatively flat (see pictures) but dad could steam in a shovel style brim or a fedora brim too, just write to us. We took pictures of every angle of this great hat but if you have any questions please write to us.

If you look at the picture of the top of the hat you can barely see an extremely faint shadow of the old hat shape. That will fade out much more in time when worn outside since we just finished steaming it. And depending on the shaping it may disappear all the way when shaped.

So this was inside that 1970-80s Mustang Hat Box! It's just fits inside! The hat that it fits into perfectly and has the original hat holding insert set too.

It's still a big hat box and will need a larger box to fit into. We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify the size, tagged or not tagged.

This hat has a 7-1/8 hat tag and measures to a perfect 7-1/8 at 22-3/8 inches. We use the Tilley hat sizing chart which is still in use today by all the big manufacturers.
