Heres a NEW 1990s100X Beaver Taupe Rocky Mountain Hat Co custom cowboy hat, size 7-1/8. This was made after the Lonesome Dove series and was shaped to match the Gus McCray style Gus hat. The difference that we see is that it has the edge trimming just like youd find on the Stetson Open Roads, just another great detail on this hat! These custom made Pure Beaver hats are the last of the really great cowboys hats made today. These old school hat makers use the same methods that Stetson and Resistol used 100 years ago and continue to make some of the best hats available today.

There are only a handful of these custom hatters still around. Theres one of our very favorites, POWDER RIVER HATS in Elizabeth Colorado. We have a couple of his hats that we will never let go.

Theres OPTIMO also and a few others too. The hat still had that foam grosgrain protector still on it. We all know that HATCO has been making Stetson, Resistol and many other companies hats for years now but this is an original Resistol.

These older hats are made so much better than any of the new HATCO hats, theres a world of difference! The name still appears on the leather sweatband. These old ones can be shaped into anything with less steam and can be done at home with a little practice. Also the old original 100X beaver is a much higher quality than these new HATCO hats.

We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify the size, whether tagged or not. This was not tagged but measures out to slightly over a size 7-1/8 at 22-1/2 inches.

Thats just an 1/8 of an inch over a perfect 7-1/8. Since these were custom made, it was fitted at the initial visit.

Also this is a tall hat, 6-1/2 inches high in the back of the hat and 4 inches in the front. Size 7-1/8+ or 57.4 or 22-1/2 inches. Width 14 inches, as is not flattened out. Tall Height 6 inches back and 4 inches in the front. Matching Crown string band 1.5 inches. The trimmed grosgrain edge is a great detail on this hat, see pictures.
