Here is one of those Rare Grizzly long hair Beaver Ten, Gus cowboy hats, made by Beaver Hats from the late 1950s or 1960s. It's NOT a perfect but still in really great condition, please read condition and take a look at all the pictures we posted, we filled the picture gallery so if you need a specific picture please write to us. So the pictures say so much more about this great hat than we can describe! You can see that slight tilt on the crown to give it that Gus look. Dad and I agreed that a nice Horsehair band would make this really look outstanding!

The sweatband was made for that time period when rope and leather was the big thing and this has an actual rope with leather strips going though it, Definitely a real one of a kind. It looks perfect too and totally secured to the hat. This is made from Beaver Ten quality this is vintage Beaver Ten! Big difference from a thing post 1970. If you've never seen the process of how they actually make hats in the old days it's quite a treat!

As the hat is mounted it's spins around while it's being shaved down to a uniform layer, that's how they get so smooth and even, the rougher look like the "grizzly" with the longer more uneven beaver hair but still even, so it must go through at least one sanding, then closely inspected before making any decision if it's needs more. So this is a partially sanded material and you can actually see the longer hairs.

It's extremely soft and pliable! So that Lions hat box that it was store in is to small for the hat once dad has shaped, cleaned and steamed it into what you see today.

It will NOT Abe included in this sale. If you have any questions please write us. We saw no undertag and the original size tag is torn off, but this actually measures to a perfect size 7-1/8 at 22-3/8 inches. We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify it's size.

Color is Tan or dark beige, the picture number 7 best represents the actual color. So you may decide the color, dad and I are disagreeing, it's a difference of a shade of 2.
