Excellent Vintage 1960s Resistol GUS Quigley 3X BEAVER Black size 7 Orig. Box

  
Here's a great1960s - early 1970s Resistol 3X Beaver Black Classic cowboy hat, size 7, still in the original box. Please look at the pictures! It's in excellent condition and that custom shape is definitely going to stand out and be noticed!

It's a real Cowboy look! The box is really big! Dad has kept the hats in the original boxes and we believe that unless your wearing it as an every day hat it's always best to keep your hat stored in a box. If you look through dads collection of hats that are listed you will notice that even the 1940s hat are still in NEW condition but of course it's all up to you.

Ok so there's the original feather band that came with the hat still in the box and it still looks to be in great condition too! There are 2 metal hooks in the back that attach it to the hat. See the last picture for what it looks like an the last picture. My grandson gave this very close examination, young eyes are much better and he was able to see that the very edge of the brim shows the very slight edge wear where the hat was against the wall at one point, you don't really see it.

Dad had this shaped into a GUS shaped hat a year after he saw the Lonesome Dove Movie (or as soon folks call it the Quigley shape after the movie) series, after Gus McCray character. Very nice wide brim too, nearly 4 inches. It's a real beauty, it's the original classic cowboy shape and that vintage 3X Beaver is thick and soft too. These older Resistol hats can be shaped and reshaped into many styles!

And it doesn't take a pro to do it either! Just lots of steam and hand manipulation will shape the hat. This is NOT a possible with the newer "HARD SHELL" hats. Dads tried on one for my grandson and it's impossible. You can barely see the original shape in the back of the hat, it really hard to see anything there, see pictures. We all know that HATCO has been making Stetson, Resistol and many other companies hats for years now but this is an original Resistol. These older hats are made so much better than any of the new HATCO hats, there's a world of difference.

We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify the size, whether tagged or not. This was tagged and measures exactly to a 7 which is 22 inches.

Size 7 or 56 or 22 inches. Width 13-3/4 inches, widest part of the hat, as is not flattened out. Tall Height 6 inches in the rear and 4 inches in the front.

The Resistol box is very big! If you have any question please write. Dad seems to know quite a bit about this hat.
