Here's an excellent unworn Houston Hat Co. SilverBelly (1990s) 5X Beaver custom shaped - Cattleman Shovel Brim Cowboy hat, size 7. Is a custom hatter and there just aren't many of these around nowadays. It has all the hallmarks! It's the time when Stetson had that 5X semi-rigid hat. Still able to shape and NOT a as stiff as any of the newer ones. So we think that this was a custom order by Houston Hat Co. To Stetson, where Stetson added Houston Hat Co.

Stetson and many others were doing this for many many years, going back to the 1920s. These older 5X Beaver hats are still semi-pliable and once shaped can only be reshaped by just using steam and a bit of hand manipulation. There are only a handful of these custom hatters still around. There's one of our very favorites, beside Rand, Greeley, POWDER RIVER HATS in Elizabeth Colorado.

We have a couple of his hats that we will never let go. There's OPTIMO also and a few others too. We carefully pack each and every hat so it arrives just as it's pictured. We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify the size, whether tagged or not. This was tagged and measures to an exact size 7 at 22 inches.

The shaping on this hat is PERFECT! Size 7 or 22 inches or 56. Width 13-3/4 inches, at the widest part. Height 5-1/2 inches at center.
