This mint condition hat is the finest felt youll ever handle, on par with their Stetson 100 before Stetson closed their factory in 1971. Their 7X clear beaver Stetson at the time this hat was produced was their highest quality. The clear meaning no dyes or powders. I believe this hat is from the 40s possibly the 30s because it was restored by Shudde Bros with a factory authorized sweatband by Stetson in the early 50s, and the reinforced edge seems to have been more prevalent in the 30s and 40s.
Shudde Bros was one of the very few Stetson factory authorized renovators, and you can see this hat was hand finished by a master hatter. The sweatband is hand assembled and not sewn in by machine, but done by hand. It requires no steam to shape/pinch, it is truly like nothing they produce now, and can last several lifetimes, impervious to dust, unaffected by rain, and will not breakdown with use. The only defect is a very minor dark spot on the top of the crown about the size of a pea, hardly noticeable. It is a 7 1/4 long oval, 5 3/4 crown and 2 7/8 brim.
