Here's a great 1960s COKER Pure Beaver 100 SilverBelly Cattleman Cowboy Hat, size 7-1/8. So we have the actual receipt for the 2 hats that were ordered from COKER'S. We have searched the internet for any information about COKER'S but only found some threads on the FEDORA LOUNGE site. Dad has no recollection of where these came from?

If anyone has some good information please write to us. From what we read Coker's bought their special order hats from Stetson and had them labelled as their own.

Dads knows all about this! As do most other hat enthusiasts. So there were 2 Pure Beaver 100s ordered and bought at Coker's. The date on the order was 11/10/66.

This one is in really good condition, read condition details. The only thing we really saw was the moth bite on the top of the crown. Dad says that there's some type of a fix hiding the hole he believes but we don't want to poke at it. This is one of STETSON's best hats! This is made from PURE Beaver 100!

This is NOT a anything like the current new Beaver 100 or Pure Beaver! This is NOT a stiff hardshell but a very soft and pliable vintage one!

You can easily work with this hat and steam and shape it on your own. And it's looks and feels very soft and thick. NOTE: So this is a used hat and we tried to see the stamped PURE BEAVER 100 that's much more visible on the other Coker's leather sweatband. We used the last picture to show the receipt and the other Coker hat that was ordered and bout at the same time, this one has the white liner and you can see that it still has the Pure Beaver 100 stamp that's still visible. This hat dad was stretching to a 7-1/4 - 7-3/8 and the leather sweatband is now coming out, about 1/3 a way around.

We think we might send that in for repair? It did stretch out nicely but now it needs a repair. It only needs to be sewn back in. The color is a SilverBelly, it still has a bit of dust after dad cleaned it with his horsehair brush.

If you wanted a pristine hat you will need to take it in for a cleaning. It's a real beauty, it's the original classic cowboy shape. These old Pure Beaver 100 hats can be shaped and reshaped into many styles! And it doesn't take a pro to do it either! Just lots of steam and hand manipulation will shape the hat. This is NOT possible with the newer "HARD SHELL" hats. Dads tried on one for my grandson and it's impossible. You can really not even see the original shape in the back of the hat anymore, see pictures. Dad thinks this started out as a tall cattleman style? We all know that HATCO has been making Stetson, Resistol and many other companies hats for years now but this is an original Resistol. These older hats are made so much better than any of the new HATCO hats, there's a world of difference. We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify the size, whether tagged or not. This was not tagged but the order form states 7-1/8 and measures exactly to a 7-1/8 which is 22-3/8 inches. Size 7-1/8 or 57 or 22-3/8 inches. Width 13.5 inches, widest part of the hat, as is not flattened out. Matching Crown Band 0.5 inches wide. The box is extremely sturdy and made from a strong thick cardboard.
